About Us
We meet every third Thursday of each month at 7.30 pm, at the Beambridge Inn, Wellington, Somerset.
We have a speaker at each meeting, followed by Members’ Time, where we organise activities to get to know one another and have some fun. Plus, there is an interval between the two for refreshments and cake!
Between the monthly meetings, our wide range of interest groups get together. Find out more about them here – there’s something to suit most tastes, and we are always happy for a member to start a new one.
As well, we have outings to concerts and plays, hold craft evenings, and organise other events if there’s enough interest.
Prospective member?
If you are wondering whether you’d like to join us, why not come to one of our meetings as a guest first. You will be made very welcome, and although we can’t offer the usual selection of cakes at present, you will hear an interesting talk, and have the chance to chat to other members.
If you have any questions in the meantime, please don’t be shy – go to the contacts page to find out how to get in touch.

Inspiring women – then and now
In 1915 the WI set out to give women a voice and to be a force for good in the community. Since then, their membership and our ambitions alike have grown tremendously. Today, the WI are the largest women’s organisation in the UK and we pride ourselves on being a trusted place for women of all generations to share experiences and learn from each other.
The WI Board of Trustees and staff are committed to maintaining the WI’s core values and shaping the organisation for generations of women to come. The NFWI Board of Trustees is a panel of members who are democratically elected every two years to lead the organisation as a whole. Around 90 people currently work for the NFWI, headed by nine members of senior staff. The staff team is led by the NFWI General Secretary, Melissa Green.
